If Your Foundation Still Looks Off Read This

Girl I am tired of these foundations lying. I put one on and think ok this might be cute. Then I step outside and my face is like nope try again lol. I know a lot of women deal with this because I see it all the time. It is not our fault. These makeup brands swear they got shade matching figured out but they really do not.

I am keeping this simple because folks online make foundation sound like homework. Charts. Color wheels. All that mess. No. I am just telling you what I went through because I wasted money and I am not doing that again.

First stop trusting the bottle. I do not care how pretty it looks. That bottle will lie. I used to grab shades thinking oh yeah this is the one. Then I get home put it on and my face looks tired like I need a nap lol. Test it on your chest or your jaw. Not your hand. Our hands stay a whole different color because they stay in the sun.

Next thing is shade names. Some of these names sound cute but they do not match nothing. My shade is mocha. That is the one that fits my skin. I tried other shades and they had me looking off. So if you have a shade that works for you do not let the store talk you into something else. They will hand you a shade called sunshine glow and you walk out looking like a lemon lol.

Store lighting is another joke. These stores use lights that make everybody look smooth. You think you found your shade then you walk outside and it looks wrong. Now when I test foundation I walk right outside with the swatch and look at it in the sun. I do not care if people stare. I am not wasting money again. They can stare all they want lol.

Another thing we mess up is thinking one shade works all year. No. Most of us change color through the year. We get lighter. We get deeper. So sometimes you need two shades. One for when your skin is lighter and one for when it is deeper. And sometimes you have to mix them. I used to think mixing was too much but once I started doing it my foundation finally matched me instead of fighting me.

How I finally got my shade right was simple. I stopped guessing. I sat in front of a window and looked at my skin for real. My chest my neck my face. I looked at how my skin changes in different light. Once I understood that I stopped buying the wrong shade.

Another thing let the swatch sit. Do not judge it right away. Some foundations get darker. Some get weird. I let mine sit for a few minutes before I decide. That saved me from picking shades that change on me halfway through the day. I am not trying to look good at 9 am and confused at 2 pm lol.

Last thing stop being scared to return foundation. If it does not match take it back. I used to feel bad but now I do not care. If it looks off it is going right back. I am not wasting money on something that makes me look like I used the wrong filter lol.

Matching foundation is a whole process. But once you stop trusting store lights and accept that you might need more than one shade it gets easier. Now my foundation matches me in the sun in the shade in the car and in this heat. That is all I wanted. Makeup that looks like my skin.

If you are still struggling do not stress. We all been there. Just take your time and learn your skin. Your shade is out there. Once you find it you will not go back to guessing.

Oh, hold on! Here are some quick tips that help a lot and I promise these are new. Try your foundation on a day when you are not rushing because you will miss everything if you are in a hurry lol. Keep a small mirror in your purse so you can check your shade in the car because the car mirror will expose you fast lol. Do not put foundation on dry skin because it will grab every patch and make you look stressed. If your shade looks close but not perfect try tapping a tiny bit of concealer around your nose or chin because that can pull the whole look together.
